Introduction
This education pack is designed to enable primary
schools in Ashford to make use of the Ashford Green Corridor as an
educational resource. It has been designed to tie in with the National
Curriculum at Key Stage Two.
The core of this pack is a series of activities for
pupils, each made up of between three and five activity sheets. The
activities are:
• It Makes Sense - sensory activities
with links to art, English and music.
• Habitat Explorers - looking at
different habitats in the Corridor and what plants and animals need from
a habitat.
• Marvellous Minibeasts - adaptation -
sampling minibeasts in up to three different habitats and making
comparisons.
• Who's Eating Who? - feeding
relationships, food chains, food webs.
• Down by the River -
geographical study of a stretch of river and of the greenspace as a
whole.
You can download these activity sheets below. You can
also download Teachers' Notes; for more detail on how to prepare for and
conduct these activities, see the 'Activity Notes'.
Activities are not site specific, so can be used at a
range of sites within the Green Corridor. A series of site guides is
provided to help teachers to find a site close to their school and plan
how to carry out activities there.
The Activity Notes suggest preparatory and follow-up
work and guide teachers through each activity.
Health and Safety Information is contained in a separate
document - PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY.
In addition to the main activity pack you can download a
Youth Groups Pack, which gives a range of ideas for ways that youth groups
can make use of the Green Corridor.
